Erkwood Handcrafted began as a way to use trees and branches that had fallen in and around my property. I started with a few bowls and quickly realized I enjoyed the creative process of working with wood.

After carving several bowls, I started to create kitchen utensils. At first, they were made for my wife but after her positive reviews I decided to create templates of various styles and begin to create them for others.

All utensils are based on a pattern but are unique and may
slightly alter in shape as I work with the wood. Bowls are all hand-formed to follow the shape of the wood. I also create other items from scrap wood, such as trinket bowls and coasters.

Since I work from fallen lumber, my inventory is carved from either cherry, maple, poplar, pear, or oak. I’m always excited about what the wood reveals as it is formed and shaped into a finished product.
